![]() ![]() ![]() I only installed two of the scrivets (in the middle of the hood) and tried to close my hood. The screwing portion of the rivet is a total misconception and they do not actually need to be screwed it to be fastened - they can be hammered in which is what I did.Ģ. The "scrivets" (basically rivets with screws) that connect the hood deflector to the holes in inside of the hood are terrible and are not designed well. After several attempts at trying to install the hood deflector, I've come across a few problems.ġ. I recently purchased a Hood Deflector (Auto Ventshade 20057 to be exact) and tried installing it on my 2014 Toyota Corolla LE. Is this option as easy to install as the parts guy says? The directions are a tad vague, but I think I can do it.I'm hoping some of the Toyota owners and enthusiasts here can help me out with something. I will need to remove the gasket, but it is easy to put it back. He continued to say the hood deflector has five clips which connect under the gasket on the hood. Is this good advice? My beloved Camry had these deflectors and they held just fine with only the tape. He said to use only the tape that is on the deflector. ![]() He said not to pull down this gasket, because it is a pain to replace if it rips. I spoke to the parts department at a different dealership and the guy I spoke to never uses the clips on his personal vehicles. The sidewindow deflector instructions mention needing clips under the gasket. I downloaded the instructions from the Subaru website. The dealer made a song and dance regarding how expensive they are for me to have the dealer to install. I purchased a hood deflector and side window deflectors. I took delivery of my 2011 Subaru Forester 2.5x Premium on Monday. ![]()
